Medication-safety program
Clean Meds Finder
A medication-safety program for people who react to what's inside their medicine. Find treatments free of the inactive ingredients that trigger reactions — in seconds, not hours of label-reading.
In beta · free to try
See it for yourself
The beta is live.
Search a medication, tell it the ingredients you need to avoid, and watch the clean matches surface in seconds. It's free — you'll search as a guest, with no account to create — and we'd love your feedback.

What it does
The manual DailyMed review clinicians recommend — done instantly.
Specialists tell sensitive patients to check the FDA's drug labels before every refill and keep a list of tolerated formulations. Clean Meds Finder does that across the whole database in one search.
Search by excipient, instantly
DailyMed isn't searchable by ingredient. Clean Meds Finder is: name a drug, choose the excipient categories you must avoid — dyes, lactose, alcohols, PEG — and see the formulations that leave them out in seconds.
Catches what DailyMed misses
DailyMed's own labels are often inconsistent about inactive ingredients. Clean Meds Finder surfaces every reference to an excipient — even when it's miscategorized or mislabeled — closing the gaps Kinsella's 2024 audit documented.
No account, no PHI
Search as a guest — no account to create — and running a search collects no protected health information.
Where it came from
Built from real research — and real need.
The research it stands on
Clean Meds Finder is built directly on the work of the clinicians and researchers who documented this problem, and we're grateful for it:
- Dr. Jill Schofield and Dr. Lawrence Afrin — whose 2019 study of medication excipient reactivity in mast cell activation syndrome showed how often the "inactive" ingredients are the true cause, and urged patients to review the FDA's DailyMed labels before every refill.
- Laurence Kinsella, Jill Brook, Mike Brook, and Michelle Briest — whose 2024 audit found that those same DailyMed listings are internally inconsistent in a striking share of common medications. Clean Meds Finder is built to catch exactly those errors.
Also personal
Clean Meds Finder is the tool our founder, Gabe, wished he'd had. Vetting medications for his child, he could use DailyMed — but it isn't searchable by ingredient, so every lookup meant opening and reading dozens of separate drug labels, one at a time. Once we understood how much excipient reactivity was driving reactions and began screening every medication for the ingredients to avoid, our own hospitalizations and ER visits dropped. Clean Meds Finder does that screening in seconds, and catches the labeling inconsistencies that made the manual process unreliable.
Why it matters
Excipient reactivity can be dangerous — not just uncomfortable.
For people with mast cell activation syndrome and related disorders, a reaction to an "inactive" ingredient can escalate to a severe, even anaphylactic, event — and a trip to the emergency room. Screening those ingredients out of a medication is a safety measure, not a convenience.

For foundations & funders
A program your foundation can sponsor — not just software.
Clean Meds Finder is delivered co-branded to the community you serve: tuned to your mission, expandable to your goals, and reported so you can prove impact. We strongly encourage partners to offer it to their community free of charge.
Sponsor & co-brand it
Fund the program and offer it to your community in your name. We build, host, and run it end to end — nothing for your team to manage.
Tailored to your mission
Every deployment is tuned to your disease community — and we can add features specific to your goals, from condition-specific excipient lists and education to custom reporting for a grant.
Reported against your mission
A live dashboard and quarterly impact reports turn real usage into mission proof your board and funders can act on. Metrics, not just features.
Reporting & visibility
You see exactly how the program is doing.
Every partner gets a live dashboard and quarterly impact reports, so you can confirm the program is meeting your community's needs — and prove it to your board and funders. We report what we can honestly stand behind, and never claim what we can't.
